Co-existence of High Fashion & Purpose

Studio Ishika Rathi is a luxury womenswear prét brand, specializing in contemporary occasion and resort wear, catering to the lifestyle needs of the urban Indian women. The point of distinction of the brand is its fabric. All garments of studio Ishika Rathi flaunt Indian handlooms adorned with meticulous hand-craftmanship in an avatar familiar to the urban city lifestyle, making a solid fashion statement, eased with comfort and glorified by purpose.

The brand aims to create an organic and genuine demand for Indian textiles as a mainstream high-fashion choice without being preachy and letting the design speak for itself. The brand mindfully re-interprets indigenous Indian textiles and handcrafting practices in a new-age avatar, to create sophisticated urban clothing that aligns with contemporary lifestyle and fashion demand, to ultimately leverage the influence of luxury fashion to create an impact in the domains of environmental and cultural sustainability, culture preservation and rural development.

Note from the Designer

I am a Fashion Design graduate from NIFT Hyderabad, where my early years of learning rooted me deeply in indigenous crafts and textiles. Through academic explorations and hands-on projects, I developed a sensitivity towards material, process, and the wisdom embedded in traditional making.

My experience in the luxury domain further shaped my interest in textile ornamentation and surface explorations, leading me to pursue a Master’s in Design Research and Strategy at NIFT Mumbai. This allowed me to engage with fashion beyond form through context, culture, and purpose.

My work is driven by a growing love for Indian handlooms and weaves, and a desire to recontextualise them for contemporary times, especially for the modern Indian market. I see fashion as more than glamour it is a force for change. Through my practice, I aim to contribute to rural livelihoods, sustainable futures, and the preservation of cultural narratives rooted in our land.
